A Testimony

There is no denying that I owe my education to a scholarship grant I got when I was in college. Without it, who knows what I am doing now. Because of it, I was able to have more than a bachelors degree. Because of it, I was able to help my parents now raise the family. Because of it, I have a good job. And because of it, I am who I am right now.

A few weeks back, I was invited to speak for our college's scholar students. I was asked to share my testimony being a scholar back then. I feel like I was taken back in time as to how my journey started. And more than anything, I just want to share this one not only to the present scholars that were there but also to others who might bump into this blog and have the time to read it. This is what I presented.

I do hope these slides can summarize and suffice my journey as a scholar in a nutshell. I know it might not be much but more or less it boils to that.

Here are some snapshots during the said seminar.

As for my outfit, didn't took a whole body shot because I was relatively busy that time. I do hope this photo suffice.

Before I end this post I would like to salute all scholars who are reading this. You have been given one great opportunity, so do not waste it. Make use of it. And later when you are done, repay such opportunity.

Neon Fusion

It is always a great way to gather with office mates and friends especially when celebrating a special occasion. Human as we are, we need the love of friends and family around us all the time. They make life simpler and more beautiful in spite of the hardships and bruises life may bring upon us.

When we talk about birthdays, what is always clear to me were the big ones we celebrated when I was a kid. But as I noticed when we grow up, our birthday guests are slowly trimmed down to the people that matters to us most. And I guess that is the essence of it all, celebrating your birthday with people that are important to you. It may not be as lavish as the ones we know when we were children but nonetheless it is more intimate and more personal in approach. Hence, it is always an honor to be invited to someone's birthday.

Here are some snapshots I took while we were inside Thai Me Up/Fill Me Up to celebrate my office-mate's birthday!

Good thing I was dress up that day so I was able to maximize the place for my outfit shots. Thank you Sheryl for these.

Buckles and Chains Should I Complain

Life is indeed one messy concoction of buckles and chains. It is not after all a walk in the park and even more a breeze in the sea. It is something we need to work hard and even to the point of fighting it all out. These buckles and chains would be the ones that will make us still, idle and can pull as down. Relating it to life, these are entities that induces negativity, sadness and idleness. And this is something we must resist.

Looking back at my own sets of buckles and chains I realized that they have honed me as to what I am today. Truth be told, regardless of that negativity and sadness they inflicted, I am a better me because of them. Hence, no room for complaining. In fact I am even thankful.

For the others who have been experiencing such situation, it would be best to step up and navigate your own life. Although people surrounding us can affect us in a bad way, should you know yourself you can be able to find ways to steer clear away from them. Regardless of how many stones they throw at you, you will still emerge graceful. And with that, they would have their respect on you. So for the ladies out there and even the gents, you may have your own chains to drag and buckles to unlock, do not let it pull you down. Draw strength from people who loves you like your family and friends. Do something productive, do what you do best. More importantly, I wish you well on such journey. May this polish you to the gem you are supposed to be.

On a related note, here's what I wore that can relate to buckles and chains on a more literal manner.

Sorry for the hair. The top is a mixture of chains, buckles with flower and greens making it truly ideal to this post. Tops and skirt from Mags Clothing.

Shoes from Anthology and Bag from Forme at 50% OFF

Belt from Forme and Blazer from SM

Wore this ensemble to a wedding of my boyfriend's friend. The theme was green or something like that. It was pretty hard to get such since I don't have one in the first place. Good thing there was this skirt that truly complemented with the top. And what safe way to complete it but inculcating blacks as evident in my shoes and in my bags. The blazer was actually use to cover my legs when I sit. You see, the skirt is kinda short. In times like this, cycling shorts are saviors! Ladies you must really keep one and even more so that when you are wearing such and also your bouncy dresses, at least chances of peek a book would be lessened if not eliminated.

Should you like my look, a hype would be appreciated!

Retro Loco

The retro fever may have been over and done but the fashion still remains and its influence to us. In fact it was one era filled with great music and dances yet its fashion statements are beyond great and awesome. And here is my current fashion take with this retro dress that I got from Mags.

Saw this dress one evening at their shop and I know I just have to buy it. I have been thinking long whether to add this to my closet. And it boils down to a YES. So I rush in after dinner to buy this piece. Suffice to say, there are still other colors of this print like this one from Romwe.

Yet, I can only buy one during that time. Oh well the dilemma of a typical fashionista! So here are our takes courtesy of the boyfriend.

Isn't the dress lovely? Indeed it is. In order to break the monotony of the print, I added a little belt from Cache Cache. And oh why the blazer? School dress code! This is a sleeveless dress so to say and sleeveless is a big NO to the university. Hence, in order for me to enter, I use this blazer. And the blazer is also from  Mags too.

Here's a close-up of the dress taken at home by my brother.

Finally got my Suelas shoes! I swear they are the most comfortable ones I tried in my entire life. Plus it is red it just fits the whole outfit. A little trivia for everyone. I got this pair plus an Anthology flats for only 200.00. Now don't get me wrong. These babies aren't fake or imitations. Got such from AVA. I accumulated their store credits that I got months ago. Now if you want to seize such opportunity, it would be best to be a part of the AVA community by signing up here.
